Can’t Kids - Gimme A Grab by Boom Room Radio
This song is great.  Case closed.  It’s messy in all the right ways.  And they cop a li’l line from The Waitresses (“I know what boys like”)!  Amazing.
I’m pretty sure I’ve only met Adam once.  He was opening for a show I was playing with Erich Skelton (Adam also played with Erich, if only for a short time) as “Falling Off a Building,” an act(?) in which he balanced on one leg, strapless acoustic guitar teetering on one knee, and sang songs that were all at once creepy and sad, frail and beautiful.
Before the show, we laid in the parking lot behind new brookland tavern and painted x’s on our eyelids, hoping to attract the vultures circling overhead.  They never came.  I suppose we should have held our breath or something.

ohmygodohmygodohmygod.
colour revolt is releasing their first ep on clear vinyl, limited run of 1,000.  it also comes with a digital download of this ep, the “makeshift” ep (2005), and a remix version of a new family.
i know it’s tacky to buy yourself stuff for christmas.  maybe even tackier when it won’t be released until february.  but guess what?  i do what i want.
go buy this (but wait a few second so i can finish my order first).
ALSO, i’m seeeeeriously considering flying home for the new brookland tavern show (in their words: “In celebration of this momentous occasion, we will be playing a select number of shows in some of the towns we first started playing all those years ago. At these shows, we will play the EP from start to finish (plus some other songs)”).
also also, go watch this video i took of them playing blood in your mouth last time they were in boston (if you’re bored and/or like awesome things).

colour revolt - blood in your mouth

i’m pretty sure the first time i saw these guys was at new brookland tavern on one of the hottest days ever of all time ever.  they killed it, and they’ve been killing it ever since. (…and also before then, i just didn’t know about it).

in ben walker’s scenesc interview with jesse, he talks about columbia being a sort of home away from home (and part of the inspiration for a new family).  my heart grew twelveteen sizes when i heard that. (god save the south).

(i took a bunch of videos, but probably won’t get around to putting up any more any time soon…not because they’re not awesome (they are), but because i should probably spend more time “working” and/or “sleeping”).
