li’l bear/cloud atlas mix 2 - when the sun shines
i’ve had this sitting in my itunes for about a month now, but never felt quite right about it. oh well. for the basic idea, check out the first cloud atlas mix - each song in the first half of the mix is mirrored by a cover in the second. unlike the first one, the middle here is a turning point, not a lynchpin (at least genre-wise - it’s thom yorke meets kanye west, lupe fiasco, and pharrell).
oh yeah, and this one is all hip-hop…then isn’t.

the video, too. maybe li’l thom yorke is off, but the rest of the kids look like extras from george washington (side note: everyone in the world should watch that movie).
oh, and crs = child (lupe), rebel (kanye), soldier (pharrell). i’m betting a full-length never happens.
