i gave a talk at nerd nite last tuesday, all about google and the internet and relationships and memory and self-esteem and kittens.
it’s certainly not the best talk i’ve ever given (i kept forgetting what slide came next, and said “um” entirely too much), BUT it’s the only one i’ve ever recorded (for my mom, in case you were wondering).
so feel free to watch if’n you’re bored and have an extra 30 minutes or so on your hands.
if you don’t have an extra 30 minutes on your hands, i’ll go ahead and tell you that the best part (or at least my personal favorite part) is pretty early - around the 1:37 mark.
(i don’t even start talking about my own stuff until 23 minutes in).

i’m pretty sure the first time i saw these guys was at new brookland tavern on one of the hottest days ever of all time ever. they killed it, and they’ve been killing it ever since. (…and also before then, i just didn’t know about it).
in ben walker’s scenesc interview with jesse, he talks about columbia being a sort of home away from home (and part of the inspiration for a new family). my heart grew twelveteen sizes when i heard that. (god save the south).
(i took a bunch of videos, but probably won’t get around to putting up any more any time soon…not because they’re not awesome (they are), but because i should probably spend more time “working” and/or “sleeping”).

des ark - live in cambridge
is this song new? i think it’s new…i’ve definitely never heard it before.
des ark played at the democracy center in cambridge tonight. despite the 11:00 curfew, it was one of the best shows i’ve seen in a looooong time. after the 2nd or 3rd song, the strap broke off of aimee’s guitar - so we all walked to the next room for a quick acoustic/banjo song while it got fixed.
…best idea ever.
